Facial Aesthetics
Facial aesthetics – otherwise known as facial rejuvenation, is the use of non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers and wrinkle reduction to reduce the signs of ageing or enhance specific areas of the face for a more youthful complexion.

Dermal filler treatments
Dermal filler injections provide an easy way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smooth the skin and give a more youthful appearance. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 – 12 months. The filler injections give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression.
They’re based on hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds with water and can act as a lubricant and shock absorber in moveable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.
Dermal fillers work by boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid – revitalising and adding volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look.
FAQs
Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilised synthetic, non- animal hyaluronic acid, which closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid plays an important part in moisturising the skin and returning its elasticity and tone. Fillers work with the body’s own hyaluronic acid to smooth over, filling and plumping out lines.
Treatment should be avoided if the skin is inflamed or infected. It should also be avoided if you are pregnant or breast feeding. If you are prone to cold sores it is recommended that you use an anti-herpes cream to reduce the likelihood of an outbreak.
Lots of facial areas such as your eyes – to smooth out crow’s feet, Brow – to smooth frown lines between the eyes, Mouth – to smooth vertical lines on the top lip, Nasal lines – to plump out the deep lines from the nose to the corner of the lips and Lip enhancement – creating fuller, pouting lips or on the lip/skin border to create a more natural lip line. Enhancements can be made to other facial areas as shown.
Fillers start from £300 per vial. For example one lip line will need 1 vial and nasal lines normally need 1 or 2 vials depending on how deep they are. A short consultation appointment will allow us the opportunity to give you a full estimate of the cost.
Most Dermal Fillers last between 6 – 9 months but may last as long as 12 months. This can depend on your lifestyle, skin type or age.
There may be transient redness/swelling/pain around the injection site. This normally resolves within 24-48 hours. There may be temporary lumpiness at the injection site which will settle within a week. You may also bruise, so bear this in mind when booking your appointment.
Allergic reaction to the fillers can occur, but this is very rare.
Wrinkle reduction Injections
Non-surgical and painless procedure to reduce facial lines for a more youthful appearance.
Once injected into the skin it relaxes the tiny facial muscles, which cause expression lines, by blocking the nerve impulses in them, leaving the skin looking smoother.
Areas on the face that can be treated include frown lines (vertical lines which form between the eyebrows), eyebrows, crow’s feet, forehead lines and lines around the mouth and top lip, known as ‘smoker’s lines’.
The injection is quick and painless, usually lasting around 5-10 minutes and requiring no anaesthetic. Results will usually be seen in a few days, sometimes taking between 4-7 days for the effects to be seen.
As this is not a permanent treatment, the effects will wear off over time. It is therefore possible for the procedure to be repeated every 3+ months for effective results.
The benefit of having this treatment done by dentists, is that they have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the facial anatomy and can perform this delicate work in a precise and safe manner.
